I got this from the author of Arthur and the SYPOC Books. Well, only the title, the content is quite different. White Star’s series will take a while, so why not enjoy a fresh, spooky story while waiting? Here comes the first one.

SYPOC Story #1 – The Terror of The Bloody Wolf

It was a cold, raining night. Golden Clarice Typhoon turned and twisted in her bed. What’s worse than being the laughingstock of the whole universe? Living on Ghost Story Island and sleeping when there’s a snowstorm on the loose. She was having a nightmare, too.

She was being chased by a bloody red wolf. Bloody red? Yep, you heard that right. It was growling something. Then, she reached a dead end of twisted trees of the ghostly forest. Then, the red wolf spoke. A wolf? Speaking in English? To a Poptropican? You heard perfectly, don’t worry.

Blood shed will come to past

Human killing human

Because of jealousies that last

The night will crash

As this terror will be rash

Then, she woke up. Fighting to stay calm, she coaxed herself back to her slumber. Little did she know what would happen the next day.

Claire set off to school after a small breakfast and a quick shower. She looked back and nervously remembered the dream she had the previous night at the sight of the ghostly forest. School was quite ordinary: Mean popular girls, no friends, and big crush.

She searched through her locker for her school nature guidebook. There was a big field trip in nature class today. The reason she had signed up because her cousin Lily had taught her how to grow a tree four years ago. The sapling was now a strong one. Her first experience a success, she had wanted to learn more about nature. Finally finding the guidebook, she checked the list of the year’s nature class members. She rolled her eyes when she spotted the name, Popular Lana Turtle. She has spotted the name Gentle Christopher Storm a second ago. Lana had the big crush on him, no wonder she had signed up for nature class.

When she arrived at the bus stop near the front of the school, she spotted several students from her school. Relieved to have gotten there in time, she quietly chose a seat near the back: where there was no one. Nobody ever sat next to her in the school buses, she was like the most unpopular girl in her school.

‘Is this seat taken?’

A very startled Golden Typhoon looked up to see Gentle Storm who was patiently waiting for her answer.

‘Erm… no,’ she stammered.

‘Okay.’

And Gentle Storm sat just right down like he was used to having an unpopular girl sitting next to him. He usually had a giggling cheerleader seated next to him aka Popular Turtle. He was her boyfriend and she refused to let him out of her sight for even a few seconds.

‘Aren’t you supposed to be sitting with Lana?’ Claire bravely asked.

‘We broke up last weekend. She filled me up, going about getting married,’ he said, with a disgusted look on his face.

Claire said no more during their ride to the forest. She waited for Gentle Storm to get up before her, but was surprised. Gentle Storm remained seated.

‘Well, if he doesn’t want to get up first, I’ll go before him,’ Claire thought.

She got up and to her surprise, Chris accompanied her the way down the bus. She quickly left him though: she spotted Lana staring daggers at her. Their teacher, Miss Cuddly Ice, started telling them about different kinds of plants and trees. She also told them that some students should have dressed more decently, poison ivy inhabited a few parts of the forest.

‘Let’s go then!’ Miss Ice said.

Claire was glad that she had brought her jacket, it was still freezing despite that the snowstorm had left. The students had split up into three groups. Unluckily, she had been grouped with Christopher and Lana. Claire was the one who spotted blood.

‘Miss Ice! Is this some sort of rare plant that releases red liquid? Or is it what I think it is?’ said Claire, cautiously. Several students from her group looked nauseated. Miss Ice was staring at the blood-smeared plant.

‘This field trip is officially canceled. I think the wolves have settled in this forest,’ she murmured softly.

At the word ‘wolves’, many students shrieked in terror. Claire’s face had become pale and bloodless. The group was about to leave when Lana realized Christopher wasn’t with them. They found him near the bloody plant. He was examining the blood.

‘Christopher, we must get out of here while we can. The wolves that settle here are dangerous. They are known for killing humans,’ said Miss Ice.

‘I think they have already killed a human. This blood isn’t wolf blood. My uncle’s a zoologist and he studies a lot about animals,’ he muttered.

‘Where’s Catherine?’

The sound came from another group of students who were just entering the clearing. Miss Ice looked terrified.

‘You mean Quiet Catherine Eye? Is she missing?’ she said.

‘She told us she’d come in here and find the other students. We were kind of lost,’ a student shrugged.

That was when another student screamed then nearly fainted. It was Silent Alice Tomato.

‘Behind that tree… where the blood leads to,’ said Alice, weakly.

The students went towards the said destination, and what they saw was terrible. Quiet Eye lay dead and bleeding. The bleeding was coming from her right arm: a wolf bite.

‘Students, we must get out of here NOW,’ said a shocked Miss Ice.

There was no need for her to tell them, everyone was freaking out. Except Claire. She was feeling weak, and she fainted right on the spot. She was dreaming.

Quiet Catherine Eye was leaving her group. She told them that she was going to the clearing. One her friends told her to be careful. She just laughed and ran away. She entered the empty clearing. Golden Typhoon’s group still hadn’t been there. But she heard a growling. She looked around and saw the bloody red wolf. It lunged at her and bit her on the arm. Her blood was draining fast, she didn’t have time to scream. The red wolf dragged her to the tree and left her there. She said something:

Time is short

The blood will drain

Be quick and steady

Before it rains

Then, she died.

‘Claire, wake up!’

‘Huh?’

Claire was in a bed, and some of the students were in the room. Miss Ice looked quite relieved that she was awake.

‘You’ve been unconscious for three hours. We were getting worried that poison ivy might have got you. And then, no spots,’ she told her.

Miss Ice explained everything that had gone on while she was unconscious. Some of the girls including her had fainted. The rest of the students had helped them stand and reached an almost completely deserted hotel in the middle of the forest. The hotel staff had been glad to give them shelter for a snowstorm had been blowing after they had reached the hotel.

‘I’m afraid we’ll be staying here for almost a week, the storm is said to last for a long time,’ she finished, worriedly.

It was still snowing the next day. Only a few students were brave enough to shower. Claire was sitting by the fireplace when they heard it. A long piercing scream was heard from one of the showers. As the scream lasted, Claire felt a surge of pain in her body and gasped as a cut slowly formed on her right arm. Miss Ice and the rest of the students ran off to the bathroom except for the few students who did not wish to see what had happened. Claire was still surging with pain, so she couldn’t stand up and come with the rest of the students. An image flashed through her mind. It was an image of Crazy Mary Ant. Mary was screaming with pain as blood flowed out of her right arm.
